About Gerard R. Boseman

I'm a Washington attorney providing family law, criminal defense, and estate & probate representation primarily across King, Pierce, Benton/Franklin, and Walla Walla Counties.

Meet our Attorney Gerard R. Boseman

A Practical, Client-Focused Approach to the Law

I am a Washington attorney who represents individuals and families during some of the most difficult and consequential moments of their lives.

My practice focuses on family law, criminal defense, and estate & probate matters — areas where legal outcomes have real, lasting impacts on personal freedom, family relationships, and financial security. I believe clients deserve clear guidance, honest answers, and direct access to the attorney handling their case.

Rather than volume-based representation, my approach emphasizes preparation, strategy, and personal accountability in every matter I take on.

Why I Became a Lawyer

Long before I had a law license, people treated me like the "lawyer" in the room. I've always been able to make a point clearly — and sometimes even change the mind of the most harden-hearted person. I attribute this to growing up around big ideas and big conversations, which helped me learn at an early age that words matter, timing matters, and preparation matters.

Before law, I was a student-athlete and spent time working with artists in the entertainment industry. Those experiences taught me how to think on my feet, communicate with intent, and stay composed when the pressure is on. They also taught me something I still believe: you can't just say random things and hope they work — your message has to make sense, it has to fit the moment, and, most importantly, has to be followed through with action.

Overtime, I felt pulled toward a profession where advocacy, judgment, and communication all matter — not as a performance, but as a responsibility. Law became the place where I could do that work with real consequences and real purpose.

Why Family Law, Criminal Defense, and Estate & Probate

These three practice areas are different — but they connect in one important way: they show up when life is changing fast, and the stakes are personal.

  • Family law matters because I understand what it feels like to be the child in a changing family. I take that perspective seriously, especially when parenting plans and long-term stability are on the line.
  • Criminal defense matters because I've seen how quick a person's life can change after contact with the criminal justice system — even before a case is fully understood. I believe in facing hard things directly, and I bring that same focus to defending the accused.
  • Estate & Probate matters because planning ahead protects people. I'm wired for strategy and long-range thinking, and I like helping families bring order and clarity to what can otherwise become stressful or confusing.

How I Work With Clients

My Role: Guidance, Strategy, and Honest Perspective

I don't believe clients should feel powerless in their own legal matters. My job is to provide the information, context, and strategy you need to make informed decisions — and to tell you the truth when something carries risk you may not be seeing.

In practical terms, I work through decisions like this:

  • What does the best-case scenario look like?
  • What does the worst-case scenario look like?
  • Where does your goal fit between those two realities — and what does it take to pursue it responsibly?

People come to a lawyer when the situation is complicated. My goal is to reduce confusion, clarify your options, and help you move forward with a plan.

What You Can Expect When You Work With Me

  • Direct attorney involvement — I personally handle your matter
  • In-person court appearances — I personally appear at all hearings and proceedings
  • Clear communication — legalese broken down in everyday terms, plain-English answers, and realistic expectations
  • Prepared advocacy — strategy first, not chaos
  • Respect and professionalism — you'll be treated like a human being, not a case matter; this is my BRAND

Who I Work Best With

I work well with people who want clarity, structure, and honest guidance — even when the situation is emotional. I adapt to the person in front of me, but I do best with clients who value preparation and respect the process.

If you're looking for an attorney who will explain your options clearly, support your decision-making, and advocate strategically, we'll likely work well together.

A Simple Standard I Hold Myself To

I measure my work by a simple question:

Would my client feel comfortable recommending me to their grandmother?

To me, that means being prepared, being honest, treating people with respect, and never criticizing someone who is going through a hard moment-in-time because we've all been there.
